Whilst It's a somewhat Impressive hack, It's targeted the wrong Infrastructure.
Valuable police and emergency resources were consumed, thereby limiting It's man power for real emergencies at the time.

It seems that my hypothesis on how the sirens were triggered was correct. The system was indeed radio controlled, and the signal was spoofed.

I agree with @Oni, clogging up the 911 pipeline is completely unacceptable. I'm not sure if the hacker(s) had even accounted for this (I wouldn't have), but nonetheless I hope they are prosecuted, actions have consequences.

Not really. Anyone with a basic knowlage in radio operations would be familiar with the system. The only reason this hasnt happened before is beacuse the people who own the equipment to do this are usually liscened operators with a huge respect for the system. Its actually very uncommon for shortwave operators to abuse their equipment.

Human error doesn't come into place with this?
I don't know the whole situation of how or when but isn't it easily to target such an operator's equipment to use for such an act?

Human error? I dont think setting these off is something that can be done on accident. They listen on a specific frequency for specific DTMF codes. The chances of an accidental activation are very slim. Not to mention it is illegal to broadcast on the emergency frequncies these use.

Misunderstood me, *human error meaning they left somewhere unlocked (with reach to get the equipment).
I really hope such an emergency broadcast can't be the reason for literal human error.
