Update for those interested:

So I just found out that tox had some really serious internal problems, many of the devs left the project, head developers stole the donation money and shit. Internal confusion with crypto gives place to external confusion too.
There are also unresolved known issues in their threat map (issue #210) and they have some like this: https://github.com/TokTok/c-toxcore/issues/426

I really loved tox but just can't accept that their conflicts caused a drawback on their product quality recently. Movin on to an alternative if I find one, or might write one myself

Just remember: You're never safe from onlookers. If someone wants to know what you're doing they can. In addition to trying your hardest to keep your stuff private, be selective in what you put out there/how you talk. Be mindful always.

Not only that, but you could have the most secure chat program possible, but if both ends of the chat aren't secured, then the whole thing is pointless.

If you have a 10 foot thick wall of steel with a wooden gate halfway through, you can't exactly call it secure.

Privacy these days either involves not using the internet, or making much effort to secure your devices, and relying on the other person to do the same.

You should use PGP encryption if u want maximum privacy Wink
