I'm a fan of the Google Pixel. It's free of bloat even if you get it from Verizon, the design is humble and it does everything that it needs to. Has a great camera, fast and made by le Google

I've had a Moto X Pure since they were first released. Haven't wanted to change phones even slightly since. Biggrin

I wouldn't go for another new apple product because they're a lot of money for something to be held together with tech wizardry and magic after a couple years... Im still using an old HTC M8 and it's pretty flawless. It's been going for about 2 years so far I think.

I would avoid the brand spanking new things as they'll only go down in price in a year right?

Indeed. I just love the interface of the iPhone. If money isn't a problem I would go with that but you get more phone if you buying something else like HTC or Moto.

The Nexus 5 & 6 are still a great buy. They both have support for NetHunter as well.

My budget is maybe $400, I just need something for everyday use that doesn't suck.

I would recommend either the Huawei Honor 9, Nexus 6P or OnePlus 3T as they're all good devices and offer good value for the money.

Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge is the latest out at the minute, so why not?

Totally! In the UK I've almost always used pay as you go (aka buy the phone yourself and buy a deal for data/calls/texts separately). Giffgaff is the cheapest UK network for what you get. Their outage times have significantly reduced in the last 5 years and they also run through the second largest UK telecommunications network (Aka O2). However, they're also one of the first to successfully pursue phone loans that act separately to the GiffGaff data/texts/call minutes deal, both promoting new models, and older but recent models, while allowing flexibility for users. If I still lived in the UK, I would use GiffGaff still.

Nexus 5X
Moto G4 Plus
Moto X Play
Honor 5X

All these are great mid-rangers offering great value for money.
