ok brandon i understand that but i bet if half of them dont do it she might give it to the ppl who didnt do it so just play it safe and double wrap this metephorical condom before you stick it in. @Flashdrive it shows me x + 2 + 1 = 3x
x + 3 = 3x
3 = 2x
x= 3/2 or 1 1/2

So what's the question for you it answered it already?
If you have the equations

y = x + 2
y + 1 = 3x
(x + 2) + 1 = 3xAnd you have to sub the value "y" in which equals "x + 2"
You would get one of the equations in this case "y + 1 = 3x"
You know what "y" is because it tells you "y = x + 2"
So then you sub the "y" value into the equation which makes:
x + 2 + 1 = 3x
(x + 2) is your "y" after you sub in for it.
Once you have that you simply combine like terms on the left side which makes it.
x + 3 = 3x
so once you have that you need to get "x" alone so you subtract the "x" off of the left side and bring it over to the right side so you subtract it and write it like this.
3 = 3x - x
( 3x really means "x x x" so if you take an "x" away you're left with two x's which is put as "2x" )
3 = 2x
Once you have that you need to get "x" alone and sense you have "2x" which is really like saying " X times 2 " you have to do the opposite of multiplication which is division so you divide both sides by "2" to get "x" alone making it.
3/2 = x
And if you wanted to you can also write it as.
1 1/2 = x
they're the same things one is mixed fractions, and one is improper.

" x = 3/2 "
we can than sub "x" into the equation.
