This survey was entirely blown out of proportion, I read the source that you gave and all of the related articles and it's just a bunch of liberals using a survey (Which was for some reason "Supplied to Daily KOS exclusively" (A considerably biased and liberal website)) to make republicans seem all hateful. This is also from a publicly distributed poll and so the demographic is absolutely unreliable, asking people whether they are Republican, Democrat or other doesn't make sense and most people won't strongly identify with that party and instead ticked the box that they continually vote for. I mean the poll is ridiculous, 6% of the people that filled it out said that they want to keep the freedom of religion laws but wanted islam to be illegal for gods sake.
