Not true. You can use texture packs and mods that will push some modern hardware. I don't think a game has to push hardware to be good, though.

My 11 year old inlaw thinks its the shit. He plays roblox and watches pewdiepie too. I think thats reason enough for us to avoid minecraft.

I don't know about you guys, but i just found out about something called Minetest

It's Minecraft but it's open source (Not owned by Microsoft,w00t), written totally in C/C++ (so it runs faster than Minecrafts Java codebase) and it fucking rocks. I've been playing around with it for the last few days, and i definitely recommend giving it a go

Minecraft has kinda lost most of the appeal it originally had to me. I've played it for a long while, helped with servers, etc. so it's got a bit boring, but I will start it up occasionally. Sometimes friends will want to pop on a server or two, and I like to do redstone computers and stuff. So yeah, not my top priority by any means but I will fire it up now and then just to mess around.

Also, Minetest is neat. I haven't found much of a use for it, but, It plays fine, holds up with plain old minecraft, etc. so it's cool.

C++ instead of Java? Praise whoever came up with the idea.

It's pretty crazy

I'm thinking about contributing to this and building some mods. It kind of reminds me of the old Minecraft Community in Alpha/Beta around the time I started playing

I'm also thinking about doing some modding or making plugins, if anyone's interested.

After playing on a bunch of servers, maps and mods, i have pretty much played the hell out of the game. I used to love it, but now i feel like i have already done everything there is to do. I may get it for the switch though, as i find playing on a new platform breathes new life into the game.
