I understand your point. Personally, I'd need to research the 8 people who'd receive the organs before I can decide whether they're worthy of the donation. I'd need to also Investigate further of the so-called pedophile- whether he's been convicted (with solid evidence), about to stand trial, or branded as one due to hearsay from the community around him. It's like In a court hearing, you get to hear the views, opinions and facts from many different avenues before deciding on one's fate. As It stands with the minimal Information at my disposal, I'm Indecisive. I suppose everyone's difference of opinion, Is what makes this thread all the more Interesting. The lawyers are supposed to substantiate their case on why he is legally/morally right or legally/morally wrong. The only difference here is that the lawyer(s) chooses side. No one really cares what the best metaphor for you all here is really. For the record, you do choose your lawyer both before and after you enter the courtroom. The lawyer does have his own opinion and chooses his own side, he can reject taking the case, but that is irrelevant to the topic. RE: Story and a question. - charles - 02-01-2016 If this actually happened, that's just fucking sad. The doctor in question is a murderer, plain and simple. although this pedophile is despicable, a doctor has no right to pass judgment onto this patient. Regardless of how many lives that could be saved with his organs. when you go to a doctor, you have to put all your trust into said doctor. A violation of that trust is unforgivable. Morals do not matter in the case of murder, only murder does. As defence the lawyer can choose not to take a case. but he's not deciding his position in the courtroom. RE: Story and a question. - Loki123 - 02-01-2016 Quote: There is only legal and illegal. Morals are not justification for murder.Good point, but then again, he saves 8 people by doing this. Killing one for the cause of saving eight, it is something you can morally justify. Quote: I'm not asking for the best metaphor. I am asking for an accurate metaphor.Jesus man, you can be the judge, jury, lawyer, the doctor or/and the pedophile for all I care, you understood what the topic is about, stay on it. Quote: For the record, you do not choose your lawyer after you enter the courtroom. It is your right to refuse service from that lawyer at any point and appoint a new one. Either if it is in the courtroom or in his office. But keep in mind, you live in the united states as Europe doesn't have the same clauses. So this could be a stalemate. Quote:As defence the lawyer can choose not to take a case. but he's not deciding his position in the courtroom.Keep in mind, I'm asking you to be the lawyer on either side, of your choice, and substantiate your case. Now, stay on topic and stop coming in here with this bullshit about the metaphor. The lawyer is the best one you can get. I'll be happy to discuss the metaphor over PM though. I feel totally in line with this. You could see both sides to this very clearly - Good topic. That said, I don't commend saving a patient who Is a pedophile (or committed murder etc). I'm just stating what's expected from a practitioner In the medical field. RE: Story and a question. - Oni - 02-02-2016 You go to jail if you're found guilty. You intentionally murdered someone. That doesn't change. No, it doesn't change concerning laws, but, concerning morality, you have killed one in order to save eight. Maybe the pedophile just got what he deserved ? RE: Story and a question. - Melody - 02-07-2016 As a doctor it's your job to not make those mistakes and preserve all life, pedophile or not. |
