I think over the next few years with the releases of the new generation of Xbox and PlayStation consoles we could see a big change in this, I'm almost positive that things will stay the same with consoles on the topic of custom game mods, we will never see custom mods for games on a console unless it is though a 3rd party hack. However some of the information that has been released for the latest Xbox console's Alpha kit makes it just look awesome and i think this will be a massive shake up to the gaming community, i can already see game developers focusing more time on consoles instead of just porting them over. So for the main population of gamers consoles are the way forward since there cheap and easy to use, PC Gaming will still be there and i will be right behind it 100% since i don't have to deal with screaming 11 year old telling me they f*cked my mum last night. Also to everyone saying PC is better since you can use a mouse and keyboard, you can actually buy a attachment for the PlayStation and Xbox that allows you to use a Keyboard and mouse on them.

I think PC gaming is the best because you can change the setting more so then a console game. It gives you more freedom to play how you want to.

PC gaming is nowhere close to obsolete. There's so many different digital game distributers such as Steam, Onlive, Origin, and GoG that help out PC gamers. Consoles have more players because it's typically cheaper to buy a PS3/Xbox 360/Wii than to spend $500+ on a gaming rig that will need to be upgraded multiple times to keep up with the new games. Mods, being able to play games made by anyone, and being able to use either the mouse and keyboard or controller setup makes PC superior in my opinion.

I like PC a lot better but honestly it's more of a personal opinion.

I keep hearing about the supposed death of PC gaming. It's a question that comes up every year. They're just different. Console games are great. PC games are great. Own both if you can and play one or the other, depending on your mood. Personally, I've owned both but I tend to return to my PC more often for strategy games and MMPORG's.

who's saying PC gaming is dead, it was always the best and it will stay the best.

I think both have their advantages and disadvantages. Console gamers don't have to worry about their hardware being up to date because everyone will be playing on the same thing so it's fair game (if you play online that is).

As for PC gamers, you have to worry about it because if someone has a significantly better PC than you, it can make a little bit of difference in your performance. With PC games, you can also have special mouses with extra keys, functions, etc. It's also easier to hack PC games if playing online.

I do enjoy PC games more but that's just probably because all my friends are on there.

Obsolete? No way! I love my consoles (which DO have their own perks), but if gaming systems could be soul mates mine would be the PC. Reasons being...

1. Flexibility. I get to choose my hardware, I get to upgrade certain parts when and how I want, I get to choose the level of graphic power, etc.
2. Wider variety of games. It's true the gaming industry has focused more on consoles as of late, but as a whole the PC has a larger catalog of games than any one console. It's important to me to have that large variety!
3. Customization and mods. This is also something really important to me - I love to be able to add different user-created skins to the game, I love having the ability to make my OWN skins if I wish, I love mods that really add to the replay value of a game.
4. No need to really worry about a lack of "backwards compatibility". For the most part, my computer can play older games no problem. Unfortunately, with these next-gen consoles, it's a major issue to be allowed to play games that were even for a previous version of the same console!
5. Cheaper games. In general. Sure many are the same price as on the console (gaming companies are really trying to push it in that direction), but most are at least a good $10 cheaper. This is a small perk, and one that is probably least important to me, but it's a perk regardless.

Those are my reasons. There are probably more I'm just not thinking of right now, but I got to the meat of them.

I was once a console gamer until I got a good enough computer to start playing PC games.

1. PC gaming is much better because you can up-grade your machine
2. Games are much cheaper then on console
3. You have a much larger range of game that you get a choice of playing
4. Due to many 12 year old not being able to afford a computer and believe games are just on console you don't get any annoying kids while you play online

PC gaming is for people who like a challenge. Mouse and keyboard in my opinion is more challenging than a controller.
