Despite the fact that I have just joined the forums, it only took me 9 seconds to register. Anyone can register here easily, forcing me to view your idea as entirely pointless. However, I think that I might have something better to add on to your idea. I think that after registering, users will need a specified number of posts to see links. If the posts the new user makes aren't good quality, he/she will be permanently banned. I think that new members should be something such as a "Trial Member" to prove that he/she is worth being on the community. If the "Trial Member" is quality enough after posting the specified post amount, he/she will be moved to the normal member group, and will be able to see links.

We're not growing. If anything, Sinisterly being private would encourage growth.
