Plus I don't want to invest a lot into a system that is old. RE: PS3 finally dying? - XFL - 09-30-2015 You know, one thing I give credits to consoles for is being to take such a drastic beating. Especially the Xbox 360 and the PS3. Everyone is playing games on them that shouldn't of been ported to those older consoles and they suffer; badly. I'm quite surprised that they handle the heat they give off so well and also that they don't really use much heatsinks inside.. (Based off my tear-down of a X360) RE: PS3 finally dying? - lux - 09-30-2015 (09-29-2015, 08:46 AM)Fire Wrote: I am thinking about customizing my PS3 by making a custom case for it with plexiglass and adding additional cooling fans with fire orange and fire red LED's all over in it. and additional USB ports. Weren't you meant to be going no electricity living off your own means or something? I will have solar power but by the looks of things that got pushed back another year some things didn't go as I planned and its going into winter now so its a little too late for it all. It's non-conductive too boot, so there's no worries about getting a bit on sensitive components. somewhat unrelated to this thread, but a bit of a lulz none the less. Once upon a time I worked for a well known big box computer repair facility. My boss had recently built a computer and couldn't get it to work right. I did some troubleshooting and found it wasn't POSTing and it was related to the proc. Turns out he used HALF A TUBE of thermal paste on his processor. When I pulled it apart there was arctic silver all over the pins and the socket and oozing onto the mainboard. I spent 2 hours (on the clock mind you) cleaning up his personal machine and getting it to run.
