The only answer that I can come up with is you don't see how because you are not me, in order for you to actually know how it effected my life you would have to be me.
But to name a few it made me have no social life, no friends, I never even had a GF because of it, It made me get health issues from sitting all of the time, it ruined all of my schedules, etc. The internet is like caffeine its very addicting but can be very bad for you.
You can maintain both of them, you can do internet and have life, I do.

Do some real drugs.
It is addictive, drink 3 bottles of coke every day for a month or so and you'll get addicted to it. Generally the negitive effects that it gives when you're addicted is if you don't have if you get bad headaches. It's not that bad, it is addictive though.
