In that respect, I certainly agree.
As mentioned, I haven't noticed any difference. Nothing significant enough to warrant the zoom functionality.

Agreed.
I thought my browser has zoomed out.
I would agree that smaller font looks nicer, but is not comfortable for eyes especially if you sit long distance from monitor.

Guys. I'm unable to read without contacts or glasses unless it's 1.5 feet in front of me, and have no problem reading this with my contacts in. Y'all need eye checks like seriously

It's nothing to do with people's eye sight.
It's to do with the pixel size of the text, and how it's anti-aliased to be optimized for our viewing, there merely isn't enough pixels within the characters to be displayed 'well' on some screens. This won't be a problem for 1440p/4k monitors.
Ninja edit: Also, PPI plays its part too.

na, I could read the text after the modification, but I prefer it with a 10% zoom.
