They never made it into an full anime series, but Battle Angel Alita is the most trippy manga ive ever read and the single OVA they made of it is insane....
I can only imagine what a potential James Cameron adaptation would be like.

Hunter x Hunter is pretty trippy in terms of very clever plot twist. One of my favorite anime because of that
