For what it is, I like ubuntu. Pretty stable for me, lots of support, and lots of users means things will work better for my system. How many times have you seen this..

RE: [Comparison] Choosing between Ubuntu and Debian - The Real Slim Shady - 09-25-2014

I find this infographic to be quite condescending...

and for what its worth - I have been using Ubuntu as my primary (and often only) OS since 2007. I'll put 7 years experience behind the fact that its a great OS regardless of your skill level.

I also want to call bullshit on the internet statistics. I do not believe that Debian+Ubuntu hold ~55% of the Linux Server market share! I have, and have had - access to A LOT of Linux servers owned by a lot of different people and they are very consistently either centOS or RedHat. I can think of only 1 instance where I worked on an Ubuntu server. If Debian/Ubuntu held that kind of market share the odds are I would have encountered these distro's far more.

I do have it turned off and i still don't like that it is there.

Reffering to Debian Distro:
Quote:Latest release uses an outdated Linux 3.2 kernel, which can lead to incompatibilities.

Try this Cannonical faggots!

Open a terminal, take root privilages and type:
Code:
nano /etc/apt/sources.list
Add this lines to the end:
Code:
deb http://http.debian.net/debian/ wheezy-backports main contrib non-free deb-src http://http.debian.net/debian/ wheezy-backports main contrib non-free
Then on the same terminal as root type:
Code:
## For 32 bit apt-get update; apt-get install -t wheezy-backports linux-image-686-pae linux-headers-686-pae;
OR
Code:
## For 64 bit apt-get update; apt-get install -t wheezy-backports linux-image-amd64 linux-headers-amd64;

Are you still outdated??

I guess I shouldn't hole heartedly trust random Infographics that I come across on the Internet next time before doing research :Embarrassed:

If you don't feel comfortable with it even when the service is turned off, you can simply remove it.

Code:
sudo apt-get remove unity-shopping-lens

Thanks for the extra info mate, will surely come in handy for those switching to Debian (Such as myself Smile )
