Well, to argue a point for WWE being a sport; they are big and strong and they train to achieve that, but their strength and agility is not for nothing. To ensure that they do not harm one another when they are tossing each other about in the ring, then they have to maintain strength and good health. Being strong, whether it's for nothing or for something, doesn't mean what you do is a sport. RE: Do You Consider WWE a Sport? - MakingCents - 04-25-2013 It's not a sport, because there is no real competition. That being said, it is an athletic event. There is no doubt in my mind that WWE wrestlers are athletic, it's just not a sport. RE: Do You Consider WWE a Sport? - Diamond_CnC - 04-25-2013 I wouldn't call it a sport, i'd just call it a way to make money so basically a job. RE: Do You Consider WWE a Sport? - OversouL - 04-25-2013 I consider more as an entertainment show rather than sports. If yoou must know they also use steroids. Sports is real, WWE is called acting. RE: Do You Consider WWE a Sport? - Greed - 04-25-2013 Nope they are paid actors so its not a sport RE: Do You Consider WWE a Sport? - alexqueiros - 04-25-2013 It's sport in the same way that Roman Gladiator battles and Strongest Man competitions are sports. Sure, they have to train and exercise, but in the end of the day, it's not really a sport. RE: Do You Consider WWE a Sport? - Zurchi - 04-25-2013 Well, sports are in my eyes for competing. WWE is for entertainment. So my answer is no. RE: Do You Consider WWE a Sport? - Electric Shock - 04-25-2013 WWE is pro wrestling. As with all pro wrestling entertainment shows, they are not a sport. However, you can classify wrestling itself as a sport. RE: Do You Consider WWE a Sport? - pafjlh - 04-25-2013 Whether wrestling is a sport is truly debatable. There is no denying that many of the conflicts that go on are scripted. This has actually been admitted by many in the WWE. However, that doesn't take away from the fact that these men and women have to be in good physical health. As pointed out they work out, and many of them are trained stunt people who know how to take these slams then get up from them. As many wrestlers have said, the drama is scripted, the matches can be fixed at times so one person will win, but the fighting itself can be quite real. So, they have to learn to take those blows in those matches. |
