Chmod, my problem is to do with dictionary attacks (in particular on MD5 hashes).

I've worked out how they work, and I was giving them a whirl, to find that it doesn't work for all permutations of the custom settings. For example, I was testing cracking the hash for "word", "word1", "WORD" and "WORD1". My dictionary contains "word" and the attack managed to get the first three. But it could not find WORD1. How would I configure Cain to be able to guess these passwords, given the right dictionary?

(Fig: Cain guesses "word", "word1" and "WORD" but not "WORD1")

Thank you to anyone who can help, and hello to everyone who's welcomed me Smile

Welcome to the community and enjoy your stay. As your ethical hacking course,as it was mentioned the purpose is to make you think outside the box mate. Sometimes answers are right in front of us,so obvious we missed them.
Not very familiar with hash cracking,bu there are some nice hash cracking scripts in python, fast and efficient.
As coding goes,it's error and trial mate,so when you get inspired on creating a script go ahead and try it out until you get what you need out of it.
