Is it possible to add some other gifs?

RE: [HC Official] HC Boot Animation for Android - alok9shm - 06-11-2014

@Kizla of-course. You take a gif, break it into several frames, put them in a folder, write down the loop details in desc.txt file and put them in a zip archive - bootanimation.zip. for the desc.txt file, i'll update everything you need to know, in this thread, in a while.

can you please tell me just, which resolution gif must be?

You don't need to worry about the resolution. Use the resolution of your device screen.

or you can specify the resolution in the desc.txt file [descriptor file that stores the resolution/size/framerate/no. of loops etc]

An example of desc.txt file:

480 640 30
p 1 0 part0
p 0 10 part1

Line 1: stores the current resolution of the animation 480x640 [you can change it to you screen size without modifying the original res of the gif] 30 is the framerate

Line 2: ignore the p. 1 -> the images in folder part0 is looped 1 time. change it to 0 for Infinite loop. The next 0 means the pause time after a single loop. then part0 -> the name of folder containing frame images.

Line 3: same as above [as there are 2 folders here - part1 and part 2]

Hope you got it.

There are many 3rd party apps that will take the gif as input and give you the bootanimation.zip file as output. You can try them if you don't want to get your hands dirty.

But I'll suggest you to make one yourself. I made the above file without any tool. I used the gif created by @bluedog.tar.gz and took screenshots of every frame and then putting the images in folders to create the zip.

For any help, remember me.

Thanks for helping me out! Smile
Anyway, i have Samsung Galaxy S4, and it already have a Tmobile boot animation. Do I need to remove that so your boot animation will work or not?

I'll suggest you remove that stinky bootanimation first and get the stock one.
Get the original one over here

Extract the below green files from the zip file and then navigate to the system/media folder from any root explorer and replace the same green files in this folder [Replace them]
The files:
bootsamsung.qmg
bootsamsungloop.qmg
shutdown.qmg

Now copy the below red files from the downloaded zip to system/media\audio\ui folder replacing the original files.
The files:
PowerOn.ogg
PowerOff.ogg

Now reboot, and you get the original stock Samsung boot animation with audio.

Now, If you are not too happy with the stock boot animation you can install custom ones too.
Look at the end of the thread and find the samsungani zip. Download it and transfer it to your externalSd card. Reboot in recovery mode, and select flash a zip or something like that, browse for the samsungani zip file and install it. Reboot. And then you can use the Process I posted above to install any custom f=boot animation. And remember to backup your ROM before messing with it.
Goodluck

I do have one. but did not put it up as its a 136 Mb file, and I won't have any access to a high speed broadband connection until the next friday. Maybe I record another one in a lower resolution and put it up on youtube and embed it to the post the next morning.
