RE: Self Driving Cars??? - Ligeti - 05-04-2014 I am not surprised at all... Google are not the first to test/experiment this, and I am not impressed to hear about this nowadays, if you have money anything (technically speaking) is possible! RE: Self Driving Cars??? - giumbai - 05-04-2014 It's a interesting concept, but personally i wold never let my care drive me, not because I wold-ant have enough faith in the system or theology, the thing is that i just like very much to drive. :troll: RE: Self Driving Cars??? - nash211 - 05-05-2014 I say Na, don't like the idea. lots of potential errors RE: Self Driving Cars??? - ipwnza - 05-07-2014 Because we're too dumb to drive our own cars. RE: Self Driving Cars??? - TheBlindHatter - 05-08-2014 As the resident and all powerful Blind Hermit of this forum I consider myself a bit of an expert on all things blind and self driving. Self driving cars= good but you know someone on these forums is going to try and hack into their OS (cough cough) and well I can't wait to see what happens then... (Terminator?)By the way did you know there are cars that blind people can drive now (they only cost $80k). I've had the pleasure to drive one actually... https://nfb.org/nfb-blind-driver-challenge RE: Self Driving Cars??? - chmod - 05-08-2014 (05-08-2014, 02:20 AM)TheBlindHatter Wrote: As the resident and all powerful Blind Hermit of this forum I consider myself a bit of an expert on all things blind and self driving. I'm interested in how this works, I mean what systems are in place to allow you to know what's around you? my main concern would be other road users suddenly pulling out of a junction in front of you how would you know they are approaching at a speed where they can't stop so you can prepare to slow down/swerve to avoid an accident? Well the gloves have vibrators and sensors (yes make your joke now) The seat has vibration pads in it (again joke here) Each vibration means something like the vibration in the tip of your left index finger means to turn left slightly while i vibration in your left index finger (the entire finger) means quick sharp left turn. The systems run off a small super computer in the back (the car is $100k+) which has sensors all over the car taking infrared mappings of the street and objects around you. It also links directly in to GPS and emergency systems and uses the same quick stop accident technology. RE: Self Driving Cars??? - gazoobajp - 08-07-2020 Self Driving Cars is a great thing. But where you can look for self driving cars? Many of the Japanese used car exporter can deliver right self driving car at your home. RE: Self Driving Cars??? - AWM Proxy - 08-10-2020 If this where to ever get past the experimental stage there would undoubtedly be a standard to which all cars are made so that they can communicate with each other. I remember reading about this a couple of years ago and iirc they use a combination of sonar magnets camera's and gps so they can effectively "see" what's around them and make decisions from there. |
