Would people still want this?

RE: Thank System - Dean Winchester - 09-25-2013

Yeah Oni. Add it mate. It would nice.

RE: Thank System - Euripides - 09-26-2013

Voted for maybe. Sinister.ly was perfectly fine without this system but a lot have been requesting - it wouldn't be bad to be implemented either however it'll become rather obsolete since we only have a set number of people here on the forums (since registration is closed). The more people, the more viable this is IMO.

RE: Thank System - Mustnabs - 09-26-2013

Meh, I don't really support this idea. Just because of what I've seen happen to other forums because of this.

RE: Thank System - Mom - 09-26-2013

I'm leaning for no. It's a bit pointless especially with the rep system.
It seems kind of silly and will only add clutter in my opinion.
Plus, if people don't think an HQ post is worth thanking in thread, I doubt a "Thanks" button will advance much, but again, that's just me.

Sometimes people read content and don't properly thank the authors. Either because they don't have any input worth contributing or because they would rather not type up a post. The thank button would allow people to be acknowledged and help with that issue. Of course, we could always just use hide tags, but I don't know if people would like those.

I agree with this suggestion. I would like this feature so that when someone makes a nice post, you don't have to use up rep for the day just to thank them, and now you can just leave a thank on their post/thread! +1 for this feature.

LF has it, and I really don't think this should be implemented as it really concerns
no purposes nor do you actually get rewarded for any of it other than thanks count.
Just a useless plugin in my opinion.

I see what you mean but I'm still shaky on the notion.
If anything I would support giving it a test drive, nothing set in stone, and then see how it rolls from there.
If it's barely used/Used improperly then we do that what was done to Ol' Yeller to it, otherwise sure. Bottom line being we won't know 'till we try, methinks.

RE: Thank System - Oni - 09-26-2013

I'm not trying to convince you guys it's good, just merely pushing out food for thought.

Here's an example:
A while back, a member came to me after writing a dozen or so tutorials. People saw the tutorials, but they were relatively advanced and he received few responses. This led him to believe that he wasn't valued or that his posts weren't welcome here. It was, in fact, quite the contrary. Plenty of people read his threads, but due to how advanced they were, he never received any feedback. He ended up deleting all his tutorials and leaving the forum, despite the apology I gave him.

My idea is that the thanks system might help in situations like these. Maybe I'm wrong. I'm only considering it at the moment.
