I think now it's patched as I saw an article titled "Apple releases iOS 7.0.1 to patch fingerprint scanner bug"

That's incredibly clever of them seeing as how they were adamant the reader and software on said reader was completely separate from IOS and as such IOS could not interact directly with the scanner (for security reasons)

Gotta agree with you in that point , wallet-damaging price, it’s no longer the best of the lot..
