RE: [Question] Kali setup tutorial request. - Ex094 - 03-19-2013 Read my PM man! You are mixing up stuff RE: [Question] Kali setup tutorial request. - Sebastionay - 03-19-2013 I'm not mixing stuff up, I know I'm gonna install it separately on usb and that's what I really want to do. I'm just trying to iron out the problems of setup on VM as practice. I can see I have to clarify some things here. I don't see how I can possibly get it to work on usb if I can't do it on VM. I got stuck on the same page. My computer has plenty of usb ports. Their just not usb 2.0, that's posing a problem for me here because the VM doesn't identify any usb's plugged in, but there is surely a way around it. The usb's are 2.0 and always worked fine. Once again I have burned the kali iso onto the 7.1gb usb this time with windows disk imager instead of unetbootin. I thought it would be a good idea to get used to installing in on a VM so that I know what I'm doing more when I do it on the usb instead. Did you create a Virtual Disk with Virtual Box before installing it on VM or did you use the Test OS configuration I made ?? RE: [Question] Kali setup tutorial request. - Sebastionay - 03-19-2013 Was using the test you made. That makes sense now. That makes sense now.Just make another Virtual OS using the Wizard. Remember now you should allot 512 MB of RAM for the Virtual OS, On 256 MB Kali doesn't run on my P4. Might run on your Dual Core as it has more calculation and handling capabilities than mine
RE: [Question] Kali setup tutorial request. - Sebastionay - 03-20-2013 ![]() I followed this guide exactly http://raidersec.blogspot.co.uk/2013/03/installing-kali-linux-in-virtualbox.html It says ''Installation step failed'' RE: [Question] Kali setup tutorial request. - Ex094 - 03-20-2013 Have you tried using the graphical installer? and also does Virtual Box gives you an error or Kali? Try decreasing your Base Memory Size to 512 or 256 and then try RE: [Question] Kali setup tutorial request. - Sebastionay - 03-20-2013 Yes. Already tried this a few times with different amounts of ram and virtual hard drive. I think I had the same error with usb. here is the error message on virtual box. ''An installation step failed. you can try running the failing system again from the menu, or skip it and choose something else. The failing step is: Install the system.'' RE: [Question] Kali setup tutorial request. - Ex094 - 03-20-2013 Check your USB for problems, try another USB if you have one. This has nothing to do with my USB. |
