As Ex094 already said, Mass Effect series is great. There are three installments of the series and is a complete must.
And, if you like graphic adventures, you can always try Myst.

If you like puzzle game, which i guess you do because you said you played portal 2. Then get AntiChamber it's a really great puzzle game and is half price on steam right now.
