RE: VPNBook : Free,Unlimited,Fast and no Logging - elektroinside - 02-11-2013 It's almost to good to be true, and 'almost to good to be true' is almost never a good thing. I've tried their service, sometimes works even better then a paid one, even for more connection hungry stuffs. I did some research on them, their host, Voxility.com, it's not known as a good player. Of course their registrar is private (more exactly hidden with WhoisGuard), and on almost every forums or blogs, where their name and service is mentioned, two guys exactly have always something good to say about them and they all registered within 1-2 months after the service was born. On one particular blog, the ip address of the poster was displayed, one that had only good stuff to post about them. Guess what, his ip was in the same C-class with the servers ip, and they don't have a running OpenVPN or proxy on that ip. Stupid, but true. Also check that C-class with robtex, you'll find some interesting things. On the website, they say they do keep logs for 3 days, connecting IPs and connection time. They also say "Connection logs are automatically deleted every 3 days, if authorities contact us we simply tell them we have no logs." And then, they say "We are not required by law to hand any information over unless by court-order." What if they log more than an IP and connection time? So, it's just strange. As i sad, almost to good to be true. Edit: i forgot something. What is the best way to sniff someone's traffic? Route all its traffic to your server, give him the impression that it's encrypted (and it is, but it also gets decrypted at some point, and the decrypted traffic goes through the same network), wrap this in a fancy marketing package, build a nice website, drop some words where it has effect, correct other's bad feeling about this and... Voila! VPNBOOK is born, because who really and usually uses VPNs? Somebody (with some knowledge, because my grandmother certainly won't use it) who has something to hide from somebody else and maybe a few hacker wannabes with a bad start. A real digital heaven you say... Or your worst nightmare. RE: VPNBook : Free,Unlimited,Fast and no Logging - Riverclawz - 02-14-2013 Lol i think you frightened the guys above who were trying it lol, your theory does have a point, if you know a but about encypting and have a spare buck for a site, you and a bunch of friends can do the exact same thing, the only negative side is that people like elektroinside, people who look deep will uncover you quite easily! I don't think i'm going to download but hopefully elektroinside is wrong for the ones who did download it
