RE: Windows 8 is relased! - kabalevsky - 11-05-2012 not a fan. Windows 7 or Fedora 17 for me. RE: Windows 8 is relased! - Guxi - 11-05-2012 I heard Bill Gates invested $1 billion for advertising Win8. We will see how will it work out! RE: Windows 8 is relased! - CursingYourLuck - 11-06-2012 I think im just gonna get Win7 RE: Windows 8 is relased! - Frooxius - 11-06-2012 I upgraded to Windows 8 the moment it was released (I used dev versions before too, but not as main OS) both on my Main computer and my TabletPC and I'm actually quite happy. There are some problems, but these can get ironed out, plus in combination with a multitouch screen it's just sweet. The control is actually quite same especially if you tend to control your computer using keyboard, rather than mouse, which is quite faster and it's interesting the way you can combine Metro apps with desktop or other Metro apps (snapping them to the sides) and move around and I got used to the new UI elements quite quickly, because I always love to embrace change and new things, rather then being conservative and staying hidden in the caves :3 As a game developer, I'm quite happy with the addition of Windows Store, which will finally allow easy purchase and delivery of various apps and games I create, similar to what other platforms already offer (Google Play or Apple App Store for example) and I certainly plan to put my stuff in the Store soon in the future ^^ The new Metro UI apps are intriguing, quite easy to use with multitouch screens, not so nice with old keyboard and mouse, but for that you still have fully fledged desktop there, which is essentially the same as with Windows 7 if you look closely, because it's built upon Windows 7, with a bunch of improvements of course, the workflow with two screens is improved too. Everything seems quite fast and smooth and basically works same as it did in Windows 7, because that portion of the system is not too different. I think that it's quite a good move to ditch some of the old compatibility stuff from old Windows and for the new devices, because all the backwards compatibility was dragging down the progress for a long time. Another nice move was that Microsoft actually rewrote the EULA into English, from Lawyerish, which is very friendly to people, as it makes it more clear for anyone, what he can and can't do with the OS. Plus such a simple straightforward upgrade for quite a low price? I'm quite satisfied with that ^^ RE: Windows 8 is relased! - Byronass - 12-14-2012 Windows 8 is a great windows and i really like it and it contains more better features then windows 7 and windows xp as well. RE: Windows 8 is relased! - SPG.WoLF_TSC - 12-17-2012 Meh, i have tried Windows 8 on a friend's PC, i don't like it. Firstly, i'm a gamer it definitely isn't for me. Secondly, it is just too complicated for me, i have got familiar to the classic Windows interface, and to switch to Win 8 isn't in for me now.
