Thats actually quite simple.
You go and buy a Vandetta mask and then go out in the street and protest and you will now be anonymous!

Bluedog pretty much explained it pretty well. But you cannot be 100% anonymous, but you can make it badass hard for people to find you. I will assume that you do not want to do blackhat activities? Then a proxy or a VPN should be fine. You can take it a little further and run through a couple of proxys. Just remember the more proxys you use the slower your internet connection will be.

You can attempt to remain anonymous but 1 mistake can lead to you being traced back. For instance I forgot to change my VPN server when handing out my address to a close friend via skype, whilst in another conversation was talking about something which could result in my arrest... Its mistakes like that that cause you to be caught.
I would recommend what most HC users state in their anon' tutorials. Use public Wifi Access Points, with at least 1 VPN, using Proxy stacking and then ensure your MAC and IP addresses are manually changed. You must remember to change your MAC back when your not requiring anonymity. This is because devices tend to have a mac address physical printed on their hardware, if your computer was seized they would check this.
If you need added protection there are methods of creating Hidden & encrypted partitions for using different Operating systems. If you need to learn anything that I have mentioned, use the search function, most things i have mentioned are covered in tutorials.
