in metasploit im doing the guide of KaiT_AleX with windows 7 and in back track manual im ussing airodump-ng and aircrack ng along with aireplay only...
i mean in order
i cjange my wifi to mon0
go for airodump-ng, get the bssid and then airodump-ng etc etc --bssid -c mon0
then after that, i go for aireplay for faster data and lastly i do aircrack-ng

Bro if u use broad band internet then only connect cable and ur internet start working but if u use Wi-Fi by ur computer bluetooth then go to Application>>> Internet>>>Wiced Network Manager>>>Click on ur Wi-Fi SSID and enter password and connect.
But if u use Wireless Card in your system then see my tutorial...............
