Looking at the prices I don't think they are too high if that's what people were saying. But maybe I'm wrong. If people aren't willing to pay that much on a smaller forum and for the privileges they receive, then the price MUST be lowered. I mean, economics bro.

No mod on SL has ever asked for mod Wink

You have to look at the "sales figures" if you will. How many people buy upgraded accounts in a month? a week? a day? Of the % of users on the forum, what % are upgraded vs free. When the rubber meets the road, sinister.ly is basically a business, and these things need to be looked at. In the end an upgraded account is only worth what people will pay. If you're looking for exclusivity, you may want to keep your prices higher.

It's all a balancing act

EDIT: clarify for me, is each upgrade a one time price? I noticed that you can't just buy gold, you have to buy your way up the line.

Haha, don't misinterpret what I said. This particular group would be there solely to judge a member's posts for initiation. Seeing as I'm God, I will have no problem tackling that task. Smile

If I wanted to actually be a mod I'd simply send these nudes Oni has been begging me for in exchange for a power position. Oops!

I don't want to feel like a cockass or look like a retard but imo they're too high oni. Maybe start the lowest at 10$. Then move up 10$ per

Not at all, feel free to say what you want. It's a feedback thread, after all.

So far, I've liked everything that @"Tarew" has said.

I think Gold (and even Silver) should be highly exclusive to people that have the cash to spend and want to support the forum, while still getting cool benefits. People just want prices lowered so they can cheap out and still get all the benefits others (such as myself) paid a fair chunk of cash for. Then you'd also have to give out partial refunds to all members that have upgraded to date.... I think what would work is on special occasions such as Christmas (or Hanukkah for @Adorapuff) we could offer a special deal where the percentage would depend on the scale of the occasion (25% for Easter, 50% for Christmas/Hanukkah and maybe 15% for 4th of July?).
I have money. Money isn't an issue. I still think the prices are a bit much. Especially for just the low end upgrade for people who want to show their support. But hey just my opinion.

RE: Upgrade Prices - Reiko - 09-11-2014

There is a donator award with no minimum donation for people who just want to show support. Upgrades should stay around the price they are in my opinion, or maybe $5 lower.

EDIT: I was wrong. It's fifty dollars... maybe we do need a cheaper "supporter" status.

Suggest it!

It needs to be exclusive for the sole purpose that kids can't do just that. No kid has 90$ to throw at the forum, but if they do happen to actually have that money they have to be dedicated to put that much into the forum. I agree a slight discount would work for posts but it shouldn't be crazy, maybe 25% per 1k posts up to a max of 50%. The reason that Legends got a discount is because they helped support the forum a ton and they earned their right to a discount. I can probably only pick 5-6 regular users that actually deserve the discount, and the others that should get it already do. I also think that staff or mods should get like 50% off but we don't really have much staff so it doesn't really matter. Anyways, I leave the decision up to @Oni but I still think we should keep the ranks fairly exclusive. Though I would like to note if I do see someone that really deserves the rank but can't afford it, I'll probably just upgrade them myself.

You haven't really disagreed with me; I agree with your reply. I would like to note however that the UB3R kids on HF only have the money after stealing their parent's credit cards. A ridiculous discount is not what I meant but an automatic discount based on rank and contributions is reasonable. The ranks were fairly exclusive; based on activity rather than money but I know what you're trying to say.

That's generous of you. ^^

You aren't upgraded. Nice try.
