RE: HP Reveals a computer capable of calculating 640 TB in less then a second. - Oni - 07-03-2014 Jesus. That's a hell of a discovery. I don't expect to see anything like that for sale for at least another 20 years (10 years, optimistically?). I don't expect to see anything like that for sale for at least another 20 years (10 years, optimistically?). Computers have always used copper conducts to transfer data. What they're talking about is using photonic conducts. This will literally re-write computing. So it'll take a while, and cost a lot. RE: HP Reveals a computer capable of calculating 640 TB in less then a second. - Shebang - 07-04-2014 The title says 640TB in less than a second. The article says 160PB in 250 nanoseconds. Which is it, because that 640TB number is useless if the latter is true. If 160PB can be processed in 250ns, then 640TB (0.625PB) would be computed in 0.98ns. If that 160PB (1.801 × 10^17 bytes) is processed in 250ns (2.5 × 10^-7 seconds), 1.49YB of data can be processed in one second. That's a single-core processor running at 1.67759086 × 10^15 GHz.. Holy. RE: HP Reveals a computer capable of calculating 640 TB in less then a second. - Customer - 07-04-2014 I remember reading about this somewhere. This computer is like 023794097203974709230497 x mine. RE: HP Reveals a computer capable of calculating 640 TB in less then a second. - Erza Scarlet - 07-04-2014 It's the 160PB, dunno why it says 640TB. I just copy pasted lmfaao. RE: HP Reveals a computer capable of calculating 640 TB in less then a second. - darkdan18 - 07-05-2014 this is awesome cant wait to see this on the market in around 30 years RE: HP Reveals a computer capable of calculating 640 TB in less then a second. - vortex29 - 09-03-2014 it is cool how some companies can just think of stuff like this. lets try this and then blamo we have new technology. RE: HP Reveals a computer capable of calculating 640 TB in less then a second. - syllalib - 09-03-2014 That's almost the speed of my own computer ... Lol RE: HP Reveals a computer capable of calculating 640 TB in less then a second. - Adorapuff - 09-03-2014 I know this is a gravedig, but damn this is pretty fucking cool. I think a thread that's only a month old is fine. 2k13 stuff is off the books though, :d |
