In addition, having a repertoire in more than one musical instrument will impress lots, the more you've tried out. - When listening to music with your headphones, lower the volume when possible. Not only will this prevent hearing damage later on in life, it'll make the real thing (concerts, parties, etc) sound even more euphoric than before when up close and personal. - Listening to music in public may be a good way to pass time, but you'll miss opportunities for others to approach you, especially if you look preoccupied with headphones in your ears. Studying - Some of the best times to study are right when you get home and before you go to bed. Studying after class is over allows you to go over your just-learned material before it decays in your memory, while studying before sleeping allows your brain to retain much more information. - Don't try studying if you feel fatigued (not sleepy, fatigued), however. You're more likely to skim and glance over the work rather than remembering what you're reading. - Take a 3-5 minute break every 30 minutes, even if you don't feel like you have to. - If you feel like there are too many distractions at home, try going to a local library, bookstore, coffee shop or any other generally quite, public place. You'll be less tempted to get off track in public. Clothing and Fashion - It's always good to have a wide range of clothing for any type of occasion. If you're the type to wear t-shirts and shorts all the time, consider expanding your closet (figuratively). - Casual clothing: if you haven't worn it in over two months, you likely won't wear it for the next two months, or the following ones. - Dark clothes and vertical patterns will tend to make you look slimmer. Lighter clothes and horizontal stripes will have the opposite effect. - If you have clothes that have permanent stains, holes or rips, even after attempting to remedy them, get rid of them. They'll look unruly and people will notice them. - Wear a variety of clothes throughout the week. If you've worn graphic tees the past two days, try a button-up/flannel. - Know how to tie a tie - if you don't know how, learn. This will be essential at any and all points of your life if you ever intend to join the workforce. Money-saving - Change accumulates quickly. You'll be surprised how much you've saved if you just hold onto change for one month. - Turn off the lights when you leave a room, and don't keep the water running while you're in the bathroom unless you really have to. - If there's an accessory not in use, unplug them. Not only will it prevent power from running through them even while off, it'll prevent a potential fire hazard. - It's better to keep larger bills over lots of smaller ones. You'll be less tempted to break and use them, and if you keep your wallet inside your pocket, prevents it from being bulky and noticeable from less-than-desirable parties. - When buying non-food items, ask yourself "will this benefit me six months from now?". Invest in the long-term. - Buy in bulk whenever possible. They're kinda mainstream now, but the clothing is top quality so i dont really care. Flip flops, loose t-shirt and board shorts is basically what i live in for the spring and summer. I disagree with that since I wore an old work shirt with some paint and holes on it and still managed to get laid. Bitches like hard working men. But if you have stains on your shirt then yes, throw it away. No self-respecting girl will talk to a slob. RE: Lifehacks and infothread. - Losi - 06-03-2014 Here's a really good one. When you are almost done with a jar of nutella, fill it with vanilla ice cream and it will become a nutella-vanilla clusterfuck. Its a good way to get diabetes and gain easy weight. You feel like shit after eating it anyways. I had the audacity to do that once, it was like 2,000 calories. I felt like crap for a day, and made sure to work out extra. That was a joke, I'm not actually going to do this. I would probably have a mild heart attack later on.
