The very essence of this quote is that you should be able to accept ideas and their implications without believing them, as opposed to your and your fellow anonykids need for an idea to be proven beyond doubt to your satisfaction.

No he's right. The quote in the OP is saying that your mind should be open to all ideas, and for you to choose to accept or not to accept them based on what's in front of you, and not based on bias etc. Although I do see where you're coming from, and you're right in your way.
