RE: Should Churches Pay Taxes? - Fallen - 12-27-2013 Quote: Also, let's try to stay on topic, rather than attacking my use of words. That is a fault on my part, but this debate would be much better if we could actually debate the topic at hand. If this isn't on topic, then I don't know what is. Quote:It is only logical to assume that all other religions should be included in discussion, because Christianity isn't the only religion that is exempt. It's not logical. It's presumptuous and the thread title explicitly states "Churches". Quote:Most businesses pay taxes. Churches, and other religious groups, are exempt from these taxes, for no apparent reason. I thought you said, "Everyone else". Also, the reason behind tax exempt is the First Amendment. -- Please make an attempt to reply with logically consistent replies. They should have to pay taxes like everyone else, besides other religious groups. RE: Should Churches Pay Taxes? - Fallen - 12-27-2013 (12-27-2013, 03:08 AM)Leader Wrote: Fine. RE: Should Churches Pay Taxes? - Fox™ - 12-27-2013 I don't believe so; mine, and a lot of others run on donations only. I don't believe the church should pay it, especially because most don't take any government funding, and (most of them) are non-profit. RE: Should Churches Pay Taxes? - True2marie - 12-27-2013 Absolutely! These days, churches - especially the big ones - operate like businesses. They have all of the perks and trappings associated with a business. So, why shouldn't they pay taxes too. But do you realize that most churches make a killing off of donations. If your church cannot pay taxes and sustain itself through donations then you need to get creative and shut it down. My church can pay taxes, and I think it does, but I think they shouldn't if they're non-profit. Workers need to be paid too. Working for Jesus Christ should be enough pay, right? and churches get enough donations that taxes shouldn't even be an issue.
