I suppose it could work like a drivers licence, you could use someone elses permit, but if you're caught using a computer without a permit, there would be consequences. How would it kill the development of the internet? The development of cars hasn't slowed with the inclusion of a licence required to drive one. To get a licence, at least in America, you don't have to undergo psychological profiling, though. Plus the auto industry's development doesn't advance on its comsumers, otherwise everyone and their mother would have their own car like they do websites. But my point is that people like me, unless its a very lax thing, or doesn't go so far as to mapping anything beyond your personality, wouldn't be allowed, and that'd kill the internet as a source of profit, a source of entertainment, etc, since I'd say a lot of people wouldn't pass anything beyond a basic, rudimentary personality exam, which can easily be faked anyways. What requires intelligence and maturity, in life itself, to use, handle, etc, and that can be tested, used, etc with almost anyone? RE: When should kids be allowed to use the internet? - BlueScreen - 03-04-2014 I believe everyone should have access to the internet. Age really doesn't matter. If I didn't get into this crazy thing called the internet at such a young age I would never have grown up to be the person I am today. I would probably just be another one of those technologically retarded faggots that were to poor to have a computer as a child, and now complains about teens these days being way to much on their computers. Although what there should be an age for is computer games. The age on the box is for purchase, and not for use. I believe that parents that buy their children computer games that are made for adults should be fined with a $8000 fine and an additional $500 if they used the voice chat system. Just my opinion. RE: When should kids be allowed to use the internet? - w00t - 03-04-2014 As soon as you can understand the abstract concepts that 1. You're interacting with real people, and they have feelings just like you. 2. You cannot ever truely "delete" things off the internet, so discretion is crucial. RE: When should kids be allowed to use the internet? - BreShiE - 03-04-2014 I don't think there should be any age restrictions. That's the whole point if the internet, to be free and open for anyone to use. I just think the idiotic children need murdering. I agree with everything you said, besides games. Reason is because when I was 3 I was playing Max Payne and GTA 3, and soon after pretty much every other good game that came out regardless of age. Some people are simply more mature than others, and I think it's retarded to punish an entire age group simply because much of it acts retarded. Nothing more annoying than some 9 year old faggot running around with aimbot and then when he kills you comes over to scream like a faggot over mic and tbag you. Yeah, but I was online gaming by the time I was 7. It's all about whether the person in question is a fag or not. Unfortunately fag gamers who cheat and scream over mic are far too common among young gamers, and the people who were mature young online gamers such as me end up getting generalized into that category. This thread's supposed to be from the perspective of a parent letting their child use the internet, and when it is okay to do so, rather than a strictly enforced multi country mandate RE: When should kids be allowed to use the internet? - Eclipse - 03-04-2014 If you can use the internet, you are entitled to use it. That's my opinion, plain and simple. |
