In my religion, the holy book is the word of God and it has not been changed. It's an impossibility to change it as millions of people have memorized it completely, word for word. If someone was to try, it would be rectified.

And in what religion is that?

Remember, oral tradition is distorted too.

I myself am a Muslim.

They don't remember the entire Quaran word for word, or at least very few do. And even those that technically do are humans, and are prone to suggestion and false memory.

if you read the bible (or any religious guide/book for the matter) you'll very likely find that it does put more pressure on what you do, than whether you worship or not. I mean, the bible has no section that says you shouldn't own slaves, however it has sections that go into depth about how to treat your slaves (how long they should serve, how they should be punished, etc.).

Also, God is what should punish you if you do wrong things, sort of a law enforcer, as it was originally meant to be. Because (back in the day) laws could not be enforced completely with a court, the church needed something to "threaten" people with so that they wouldn't commit crimes.

As always in arguments of this type, I'll say, God is what has been created to explain things that cannot be explained otherwise, and to help people live according to rules. God (in the form of morals, etc.) sort of lives in all of us, if you get what I mean?

No they do. You can tell someone who has done so to recite the entire book and they will do so within a few hours. We call these people Hafiz, and there are millions of them. But we're straying from the topic.

as someone who suffered through a religious studies class, (it was community college so it was only judo-christian) I have to say that there is evidence of the holy bible being revised or "changed" In fact archaeologists are always finding new texts that were never added to the canon. That being said, quantum physicists are having been rocking your conception of reality for 50 years now, so fuck it, whatever you want to believe, go ahead and believe. Perception at this point is a crap shoot. For you, I'm assuming, its the contemporary christian mythology, for me its that an anime character is literally the perfect being in the universe.

I'm not a Christian. I know that the bible has been changed. (facepalm)

Ah, my bad. I'm genuinely surprised though, the quran has never been edited in anyway over all of history? That's a neat fact I just learned today.
