The more you hear about these situations, the more sense gender-neutral or unisex bathrooms make. Given people are picking and choosing their gender, it's probably of benefit for restroom areas to be separated further. The rest of the world shouldn't be inconvenienced by those that choose to deviate from their assigned gender. Regardless of what label or identification is chosen, people shouldn't be exposing their opposing genitalia to others.

Interestingly, this whole ordeal has resulted in the superintendent apologizing/resigning:

One could argue they are liable for what happened to his daughter...

I would say the school is 100% liable without a doubt. It happened on their premises due to a policy they put in place. And then didn’t take the appropriate action after it happened.
Not only are they liable for the assault they also negligently handled it afterwards.

I was referring to the “transgender policies” in the original post. I took that to mean people who identified as women were allowed in the women’s toilets.
I could have misunderstood though.
