This probably doesn't make a lot of sense but, the reason why I like surprises is that someone cares enough about me to spend their time doing something to celebrate me. On the other hand, being surprised is not something I enjoy because I don't like being caught off guard since I need to know what is going to happen to fully feel comfortable.
However, I am very grateful when someone has these kinds of gestures with me because I know all the effort behind them.

Generally I am pretty perceptive and I prefer to know things in advance. However, one time a member sent me a box full of dildoes for my birthday... You never know what will happen in life.

You met my roommates, and if you ask them... they will recall being pelted with them on occasion.
@"jones1999" also sent me a really nice switchblade that was later confiscated by campus security.
