Really sorry for the wait. I picked the perfect time to propose this apparenty, because I've been busy during the week, and that's not helping me get things done any faster. But I'm working on the icons as I'm typing this post out. Expect to see some examples ready by tomorrow night.

I feel like, design-wise, these look a bit more like what they're supposed to be. A person-shape for intros is more immediately recognisable and intuitive than the current 'plus' symbol we have. I think the same goes for World News. While I do like our current icons, the world news one makes me think of WiFi style symbols, more than world news. xD

I agree with you on the World News icon. I wasn't entirely sure what to do to make it look like 'World News'. I was thinking of adding an exclamation mark to it instead of the two lines in the top right, but I felt that it would be redundant since my Announcements icon already had one.

I honestly think your jail cell idea would work. That or a judges gavel would be the two best ideas I could come up with.
