If you are running windows: yes.

If you are running linux with encrypted luks partition: no.

windows or linux, if you gonna connect your pc to internet you are exposed anyway. but as mothered said " they would not go through the trouble of tracking a GPU" , but in my opinion that would be ok if you are in other country and that gov probably doesn't care about those things. hence, that Nvidia know your MAC and IP address anyway , no matter from where you downloaded the software, the GPU ID and version still the same, backed with the MAC and IP addresses, and probably the column for "send technical information to the company" is checked by default, that time they know a hell of information about your PC. so the question is : does your GPU means a big deal to them ?

If you don't install any Nvidia software (for example using free drivers on Linux), then there is no reason any process would send your GPU uid online ?!

probably yes. but how can an Nvidia hardware function properly without their main Driver ?

Didn't you hear they have GPU-sniffing dogs?

With an open source driver Wink
Although it probably won't work as well in most cases..

Yeah I wish emancipating open sources projects like this (I'm also thinking about microG to replace Google Services on Android, Nextcloud for self-hosted Google Drive & stuff) had more support ! They could really make a difference
