I had a friend create an account for me using a mail.com email because I did not want face book to know my phone number. I do not know if my friend had to provide a phone number but I have been using my account for over 7 months with no problem using the hidden service over Tor. I did make my own before but they requested a picture of myself which I did not want to provide. Now I have a real picture of some one who is not real and it seems to be OK.
