If you already have a VM, why bother use sandboxie?

If you are afraid of the VM program itself, sandboxie will block outer-box connections, and setup. That means VMware/your VM program will run into errors, or just not run at all.

From what I know, wine is just for executing independent exes in Linux, that wouldn't work for this occasion

Do remember that both a VM & Sandboxie are just like any other application- Install and use thereafter. Install VirtualBox on Linux and Sandboxie In the Virtual Machine. Bridge the virtual adapter(s) to allow Internet connectivity from the Host OS (physical machine), to the Guest OS (VM). You can also map network drives to transfer files from Host to Guest and vice versa.

yes you can but when it comes to cracking tools for example right. it sometimes has viruses.
