Yup, you are completely right. But I like to state 2 things.
1. Those people get banned (95% of the time - it took a while for Long to get banned, since he was an extremely high rep moderator of several sites).
2. You can play TF2 without the 'economy.' Valve made the game playable without you needing to own anything.
The only reason why I play TF2 is because of reason 2, and because it has one of the best (friendliest) online gaming communities.
