RE: Moving - Oni - 04-03-2019

As someone that's moved a dozen times and lived in multiple countries, I know the feeling. You'll form new habits, socialize with new people, and adjust over time. Might be overwhelming at first, but it's best to stay busy, and eventually you'll get used to things. I've found that it normally takes a few months to fully settle in. If you're only an hour away you can always go visit.

I was planning on moving to another city for my master's and now I've decided to just stick here and commute to my current school and do it there instead. I don't wanna go through this process again lol

Congratulations with a big step in your life, I know that it is not that easy and you may have some nostalgic thoughts and  doubts. I moved to my property on the French Riviera https://tranio.com/france/cote_d_azur/ from Spain and it was hard some days. New language, new laws, new everything. Now I am used to it and have to problems.

If I were In your position, I'd do the very same.

I'm not the type who enjoys moving and adapting to changes.

That's because change necessarily means you're out of your comfort zone which is a GOOD thing! You need change in order to develop growth.

There's a light at the end of the tunnel mate, tough it out and you'll be cheering in a few months.

Aw, it's gonna be okay. I had the exact same Experience. It gets better, trust me. I've been in a new place for a little over a Month.

It's gotten a lot better. Now that I'm done school for a bit I can stick around the city and actually do shit so that's nice

RE: Moving - Jiggly - 04-28-2019

Like many others, I've also experienced this. Although, I was about 13 my first time. I would have traded anything to be at the same school or within as close proximity to my old friends. I will say I felt off for what felt like a long time. I actually didn't even notice the moment when that feeling stopped. I just realised I didn't feel so strange about it when I looked back after a year or two. It faded without me noticing it.

Since then, I've moved several times for college and even took my masters in another country. I cannot emphasise how rewarding an experience that was. I never wanted to leave the town I was born in, but it was a great personal development point for me.

Wow. Was it a 2 year master's? I ask because I've noticed many of them these days are only a year to 16 months. I've been thinking about a PhD down the road but I figured if I'm going to dedicate another 4 years, I might as well go all the way across the country at least.

Mine was fast-tracked to 1.5 years (no summer break). I'd recommend going somewhere for the uni and it's resources if you're look at PhDs eventually.
