Jails allows me to test software that I may not want, and still keep my base OS clean and tidy. It is also easier to install than Debian and most linux distributions that I have tried before, as FreeBSD is an entire operating system. Since it is an entire operating system, it may be less modular, but it is more packed together and therefore everything works well together. FreeBSD can be a pain in the ass to configure (especially on my laptop, which I am using right now), but the hard work of fixing my sound, display, graphics, and networking was worth it. I recommend you, and other linux users, to switch to FreeBSD. I feel that Linux has a kinda 'rough' feel. I mean, it's great, but lately idk. OpenSUSE was nice, I'm in the process of setting it up again. Haiku and OSX feel a lot cleaner in my opinion, I'm gonna be trying few BSDs soon. EDIT: Now that I think about it, I have no idea what I was saying because Linux is fine. I think I just wish that Haiku worked. Yes It's hard to believe, but that was the technology at the time. "You don't miss what you never had", but looking back at It now, It frustrates me just thinking about It. RE: What is your favorite Operating System? - miqrojamie - 08-05-2017 Probably Windows XP because it looks good (an opinion many may disagree with), worked well... I don't think I've used an OS nearly as good as XP although Xubuntu comes pretty close. RE: What is your favorite Operating System? - Markfrost - 08-07-2017 Windows 10 at the moment. What is your favorite Operating System? - miqrojamie - 08-14-2017 Solus has replaced Xubuntu as my favourite Linux distribution because I'm using it now and it is really good compared to Ubuntu-based distros. RE: What is your favorite Operating System? - Altair - 08-14-2017 I missed you buddy ad:

Both were In fact very stable and responsive. RE: What is your favorite Operating System? - miqrojamie - 08-15-2017 The same couldn't be said for Windows 98 SE's successor, Windows ME, on most hardware at the time. I wonder why ME runs perfectly fine in a Virtual Machine, yet runs like garbage on most hardware (not all mind you, there are a few people out there who said it is better than 98 SE). I'm starting to really like Solus, v3 was released earlier today

Windows ME was shocking. I remember running It (In early 2000) on several systems, and It gave me nothing but Issues. I don't recall whether It was released as an OEM, but If It was, I'd assume It wouldn't have lasted too long. |
