i actually like webroot. It uses cloud scanning technology and it actually stopped several RATs, Zeus', and zero days. Its pretty good and very light on resources. Won pc mags best antivirus if that means anything to you.
also forgot to mention, hitman pro and roguekiller are awesome second opinion scanners

Every antivirus has + and -. After all you only can get infected by yourself. You need to care what you open (beware of strange .exe files) and download.
Offtopic: Can somebody explain me how you can get infected by porn sites like pornhub? I just don't get it. Some people trash talking like "Don't watch porn". It's fuckin' ridiculous. Adblock Plus GG

Every antivirus controls your PC. So better is to write yourself but it's very difficult.

well...Kaspersky is an internationally renowned ...but if you look for the Experience ,Norton is the best because it is the oldest from the others

I've seen many antiviruses in this thread, I like Bit Defender and ofcourse, some may like it, some may not like it, it's totally your choice.

Eset (nod32) for everything :). It picks up everything that is a threat, although it does occasionally pick up items that are not threats.

followed by Kaspersky
