The mind Is a very powerful tool and when It's preoccupied (In deep thought), It can play all sorts of tricks on you. Many years ago I was In a mad rush to leave home (friends were waiting outside and I was running late) and was looking for my car keys everywhere. A couple of minutes later, I realized they were In my left hand.

A similar thing happens to me all the time

I'm often preoccupied with thoughts and place something somewhere. When I want to get whatever I placed down, it can take me days to find it (one time, it took me multiple weeks).

One time I lost my dads car key like this, by placing it on a skateboard that is never used under a couch that is never used.
Took a week to find, but I still don't remember putting it there...

Goodness me, I wouldn't have liked to be In your position having to answer to your father. My father (who's the most Important person In my life), can be very demanding but at the same time, quite reasonable.

Given the skateboard and couch were not used, It's amazing you actually found the keys with a week of losing them.
