Prescription drugs which are essential to your well being can't be avoided even if some of the drugs makes you vulnerable to addiction. Some pain killer drugs usually prescribed to cancer patients in the final stages are highly addictive. Drugs with combination of marijuana are I believe, prescribed to terminally ill patients. Medication should always be taken in moderation and with proper prescription under medical observation.

I started smoking at the age of 13 on and off, and it only progressed as I got older. 18-20 I sold weed, carts, and xanax. Biggest mistake of my life. I'm now a little over a year clean from xanax but it still affects me to this day.
Yes, 100% of drug use should be legal and sold by the state, in extremely small + personal amounts. There should be waivers of some kind to sign, acknowledging the effects of drug use. Barring them from any state sponsored healthcare, as I don't want to pay taxes to someone who fucks their own life up.

The ramifications wouldn't be limited to government healthcare, as it would likely affect health insurance. I'm not sure anyone that would willingly enter such an agreement could be considered mentally capable of doing so.

I don't think you should get addicted to drugs. There is a clear line between innocent marijuana and hard drugs. I used to take marijuana for headaches at one time. Still, now I take pills because my memory has deteriorated, and I have attention deficit disorder. I can't afford to be stoned on anything else. I already mix up my pills, and I don't know when to take which one, and the doctor tells me to check what I take https://druggenius.com/pill-identifier/ not to get poisoned or overdose. So I have a neutral attitude to light drugs, but it is better to use them for healthy people and know your measure.
