Kali is good now that backtrack is no longer being maintained. Kail is like backtrack but I think its better. Though, I rarely hack into wifi networks so when I do I just use aircrack form ubuntu rather than switching it all the way up.

I use that in a dual boot haha. I love it. I wrote a script for a fresh install, and it works just the way I want it too Smile

Kali is like backtrack...? Kali IS backtrack.
You guys might also like blackbuntu as well! I love it

As far as I have experience with Linux distros , I have to say that Kali is the best.
Great performance, full equipment.
The ones who currently use Backtrack , I suggest you to leave it and switch to Kali.

Backtrack/kali are OK but they are one trick ponies really- you wouldn't want to use them as a daily OS. I also find them to be quite buggy requiring a lot of tweaking and re-configuration before they are usable.

Yea they are buggy , but for the ones who need challenges everyday , kali and backtrack is the right answer. Because dealing with bugs almost everyday , you will learn alot and you will be able to answer almost to anyone who needs help with Linux. After you learn commands in a very professional way , and become very familiar with it , you will use the Kali/backtrack distros as a daily OS. At least I use Kali as a daily OS. I haven't used Windows anymore since the first moment I installed Kali. And I feel pretty comfortable with it , or said better , I LOVE IT! But it also depends from one person to another. At the end , this is just my opinion.

Let me rephrase that- You shouldn't use kali/backtrack as a daily OS running permanently as root is dangerous and a security risk and both these distros where not really designed to be run in such a way.

I do not use both as root. I have made 2 different accouns, one user prviledged right and one user. Sometimes I just use Sudo

It would be wise to mention this in future posts when and if you suggest Backtrack/Kali or any other distro that requires login as root to use in its full potential.

Many people aren't aware of the security issues while using this kind of distros.
