Noticed somebody on my Spotify - Slippery Slope - 06-13-2018 Yesterday, I was trying to find a song on my Spotify, so I started scrolling through my recents. Immediately, I noticed some music that I'd never play - or accidentally play. I ignored this the first time and went on looking. Today, I get on my Spotify - and it's being used on 'Chrome'. Well, I know that's definitely not me. So, instead of changing my password - I decided to invite them in for a discussion. I created a Spotify Playlist and named it "I see you on my account. Let's talk. Discord: (My discord)" I'm really interested in whether or not they actually turn up to talk.
RE: Noticed somebody on my Spotify - mothered - 06-14-2018 Anonymity Is paramount when gaining unauthorized access, hence If I compromised your account and read "I see you on my account", I certainly wouldn't respond. But that's just me. In the event you receive a reply, please keep us updated. RE: Noticed somebody on my Spotify - millionandbell - 06-14-2018 Doesn't it tell you the IP of where it was logged in? I know that isn't always accurate but it will be a good indication if it's a family member or something. Other then that it's probably useless. Interested to see where this leads. But that's just me. Some times reaching out to a fellow who understands the/your game or subject would be intrigued to have a chat. Pure anonymity would want to be kept in serious and heavily criminal actions, unauthorized Spotiy access is illegal in the eyes of the law, but a severe waste of time and resources for anyone to prosecute. Bet yeah, in the case of him just being spooked and getting another account I doubt he would. Keep us updated OP
RE: Noticed somebody on my Spotify - bholu131 - 06-14-2018 I don't think he would reply because he would definitely not want his anonymity given up. But keep us updated if he does RE: Noticed somebody on my Spotify - mothered - 06-14-2018 (06-14-2018, 02:41 PM)Zajbu Wrote: unauthorized Spotiy access is illegal in the eyes of the law, but a severe waste of time and resources for anyone to prosecute. Generally speaking, yes. However It depends who the account holder Is, and what the attacker does with the data. For example, there's been many reports (making headlines) of high-profile politicians who've simply had their email account compromised and credentials leaked, which warranted an Investigation with the Intention of apprehension of those responsible. In this case, I'd be Interested to read not only the reply, but also It's context. RE: Noticed somebody on my Spotify - Oni - 06-14-2018 It's possible someone sold them access to your account. Let us know what happens if they reach out.
RE: Noticed somebody on my Spotify - Vultra - 06-15-2018 If he does respond, He will obvs be on a new/created account. RE: Noticed somebody on my Spotify - Slippery Slope - 06-17-2018 Update: Nothing thus far. He's just continued to use my Spotify. He continues to listen to extreme electronic music from his Chrome Browser. (: RE: Noticed somebody on my Spotify - Bish0pQ - 07-04-2018 If your account got sold, I highly recommend you check on HaveIBeenpwned if your email was available in a breach. If so, you should change your password everywhere where you are using the password. Would be interesting to see if the person would reply but I highly doubt it. This problem will soon be over though, since most of the people just switched to upgrading accounts from a family owner account. This would give you automatically premium and you'd have your own account so I think hacked spotify accounts will soon not be that interesting anymore. |
