RE: OnePlus 5 - Ecks - 06-22-2017

From an ArsTechnica article:
Smartphone companies don't seem to care about cultivating a true "lineup" of phones. If you aren't spending at least $650, most companies will offer you anonymous, second-rate devices that seem like they've had no thought put into them. Enter the OnePlus 5, which continues the company's tradition of offering an all-business, high-end smartphone for a great price. Today OnePlus is both announcing the OnePlus 5 and lifting the review embargo on the device, which we've had for about two weeks now. $479 gets you an aluminum-clad pocket computer with a 2.45GHz Snapdragon 835 SoC, 6GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, and a 3,300mAh battery. You still get OnePlus' physical 3-way alert switch, a USB-C port, capacitive buttons with a front-mounted fingerprint reader, and a headphone jack. The phone has two cameras on the back: one 16MP main camera and one 20MP telephoto camera, arranged in the most iPhone-y way possible. Besides the $479 version, there's a more expensive $539 version, which ups the RAM from 6GB to a whopping 8GB, adds another 64GB of storage for a total of 128GB, and changes the color from "Slate Grey" to "Midnight Black."

Overall looks like a descent phone for the price, but still pricey. If you need a phone with all that, then it is the way to go, but for me my 25$ HTC works just great.

The specs look alright I guess but still quite expensive so I'll stick with my moto.

RE: OnePlus 5 - mothered - 06-24-2017

I agree with others about the price- It Is a little expensive.

What If someone was In the way whilst I wanted to take a snapshot of "background?".

I read an article on that, apparently the #4 isn't an ideal number in China(unlucky).

The price is steadily increasing for sure.

Yeah, 4 sounds very similar to "death" or "die" in a lot of east-Asian languages. Nokia also skipped 4 in their releases, funny enough. I don't know how I feel about the phone, though. The features it has are pretty good for the experienced user, but there's a LOT of things I think they should have included.

They were also caught cheating in benchmarks: http://bgr.com/2017/06/23/oneplus-5-specs-benchmarks-cheating/

For me personally, I was looking for the camera changes they included and the LATE bandwidth change. The OnePlus 3t is sufficient otherwise(for me at least).

RE: OnePlus 5 - Mr. Robot - 08-04-2017

I plan on getting on myself soon. I've always loved the whole One Plus line. They are for sure flagship killers and stand up to any new flagship device that's out. I was considering the Galaxy S8 +, as I have the Galaxy S7 Edge now, but once I heard the One Plus 5 was out that's what I set my sight on.

Haha that's ironic because I was going to go for the S8 and finally give Samsung a try, but I ended changing my mind after visiting my provider's store. They literally told me to just wait for the next Oneplus, since I already had a current model.
