Sleep interfering with productivity - Inori - 04-17-2017 I'm just at that point in the school year when I get fed up with sleep because it messes with my productivity. I've slept ~4 hours in the last 3 days, and that was only because I ran out of shit to do. Does this bother anyone else, or am I becoming delusional? RE: Sleep interfering with productivity - Jiggly - 04-17-2017 Sleeping properly and maintaining a good schedule will help you get stuff done to a better standard, since it improved functioning... I feel like this is more a question of, I wish we didn't spend 1/3 of our lives asleep. I certainly wish I never had to sleep, I'd get loads more done. However, I utterly hate not getting enough sleep... I feel awful and barely get anything done since I don't feel well enough to. Either way, I'm probably addicted to caffeine at this point, so the amount of sleep I get doesn't really matter. In terms of overall health, that could be dangerous if you do it for too long. I only say this knowing friends who've done the same thing and ended up collapsing and sent to hospital. I'm assuming you're kinda young so you'll probably be ok for a while. Especially if you're not doing that all the time. I know it's a pain to sleep when you could be doing stuff... unfortunately we're still human and sleep is part of that xD RE: Sleep interfering with productivity - m0dem - 04-17-2017 (04-17-2017, 11:21 PM)Inori Wrote: Does this bother anyone else, or am I becoming delusional? Probably the latter... At least to the degree you speak of (4 hours in 3 days). RE: Sleep interfering with productivity - zorrophreak - 04-18-2017 I generally reach that point early on in the year. Not to mention, I just tire of sleep in general, it ruins productivity. If I had a job (which if I'm going to get one while still in HS, it will be in IT) I would have a justifiable reason. However my grades don't justify it, I just don't like sleeping because it interrupts leisure. One day I'll have a reason. I can drink two Rockstar Punch Drinks (240mg Caffeine each, 480mg for two) and besides physical energy boost, it does not keep me awake at all anymore. Rip. RE: Sleep interfering with productivity - Hoss - 04-18-2017 This is something I struggle with aswell, my family takes naps all the time and I just can't understand why you would want to waste productive time SLEEPING. I've slowly worked towards getting 4-5 hours of sleep per night instead of the previous 8. The trick to keeping a sleep schedule like this is you can NEVER stray from it, even on weekends, holidays, when you are sick, you have to stick with it so your body goes into REM quickly. PS. Don't drink lots of energy drinks, they have been proven to have many very adverse health effects. RE: Sleep interfering with productivity - mothered - 04-18-2017 If I don't get enough sleep (minimum 4 hours), my brain function diminishes to some degree. I realize I'm not as alert and make silly errors (coding). I do agree that sleep Is a waste of time, however It's Imperative for a healthy lifestyle and proper functionality. RE: Sleep interfering with productivity - Skullmeat - 04-18-2017 While you may think you can, your brain functions greatly demisnish without sleep. There's also health concerns with long term sleeo deprivation. RE: Sleep interfering with productivity - LordBos_X - 04-20-2017 I get frustrated that I have to sleep when I have shit to do - but also I love to sleep and hate to wake up. Go figure
