Some thing you should be aware of in the US - zenTHEgreat - 03-24-2017

So since we are all on the web and use it daily (especially here in the US) we should all be aware that regardless what ISP you use to connect to the internet, Our lovely senate just Passed a Bill Allowing Internet Service Providers to Sell Your Internet History to the Highest Bidder. I'm sure most of you are thinking who cares or whats the worse that can happen.

It's 2017 and little by little we are transitioning toward a fully IOT environment. Being that everything connected to the internet that obviously uses an ISP well now be available for other companies to view along with your ISP. Internet Privacy advocates are deeply disappointed at the vote AND SHOULD YOU, the reality is that this vote was mostly a symbolic middle finger to consumer privacy, rather than a major step forward in privacy invasion.

Consumers have been having their information traded, bartered, and sold online for years now. Private corporations like Google and Facebook have long had the ability to sell their users’ data to advertisers while the NSA is able to scoop up as much data as they’d like for “investigations. Now that your ISP can sell all that data to whoever the fuck , along with your location be prepared to have your privacy invaded and sold to advertisers......

You and I both, at least before it was an option to use google chrome and you knew your browsing data was being sold but now you have no option, cause ISP can now sell all the data and traffic you browse. The future is not looking good at all soon they'll find a way to connect all databases and practically pinpoint your day to day life, what ever you eat, whatever you buy, where ever you go...

I was talking about that with my friend who's a network admin, it all depends where you are vpning from... if you have for example comcast xfinity and you vpn to a network in europe , you are still using the xfinity pipelines to connect so all your browsing data is there's to own

you can use chrome. What I'm saying is you can pick and choose what browser you want to use , but be aware that depending on the company that owns the browser, they can sell your browsing data.

Now that this law is passed in the US, literally any company that you have that provides you with internet access can sell all your browsing data without you knowing. At least if you had google chrome you are aware that chrome is selling your browsing data that's linked your IP address or you can choose to use firefox or another browser... regardless what you choose now your data will be sold.

Now I see what you were saying.

I guess it sucks for everyone.

Why am I not surprised? Honestly I figured this was already a thing, but hell, lets make it a law because "Freedom" right?
